Description

AKIRC874 - AK Interactive Real Colors S.C.C. No.2 Brown 17 ml.

A medium warm brown corresponding to SCC No.2 (Special Camouflage Colour 2, also known as Khaki Brown or Earth Brown, BS.987C shade 2) — the standard base colour for British and Commonwealth military vehicles from mid-1942 through to the introduction of SCC 15 Olive Drab in April 1944. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC874 is the most broadly applicable British vehicle base colour for the mid-to-late war period across the UK, European, and Commonwealth theatres.

From 1941–42, Standard Camouflage Colours from BS.987C came into use alongside and then supplanting the earlier green schemes. The basic shade became SCC 2 (Khaki Brown) with SCC 1A applied over it as a disruptive colour. These browns were introduced as a result of a severe shortage of a vital chemical agent used to produce strong greens. The two-browns camouflage scheme of SCC 1A over SCC 2 was most commonly used from 1941 to 1943 in the European theatre. In May 1942 (ACI 1160), the British Army formally switched to SCC 2 as the standard vehicle base colour. Many of the British Army's vehicles that landed in Normandy from June 1944 retained their SCC 2 Earth Brown base colour throughout the North West Europe campaign. It covers an exceptionally wide range of subjects including all British and Commonwealth AFVs and soft-skin vehicles from mid-1942 onwardChurchill, Valentine, Matilda II, Crusader, Cromwell, Comet, Bedford QL, AEC Matador, Universal Carrier, and all associated wheeled transport — across UK Home Forces, North West Europe, and Commonwealth formations.
