Description
AKIRC871 - AK Interactive Real Colors Bristish Desert Pink ZI 17 ml.
A warm earthy pink corresponding to Desert Pink ZI — the locally produced base coat colour introduced for British and Commonwealth AFVs in the Middle East from October 1942, replacing the earlier Light Stone and Portland Stone schemes. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC871 is the essential base coat for all British Eighth Army subjects from the Second Battle of El Alamein through to the Tunisia campaign.
Desert Pink ZI was introduced by G.O.1650 of October 1942 as the new standard basic colour for British vehicles in the Middle East, to be used with Dark Olive Green PFI as the primary disruptive pattern colour. It was a locally produced earthy pink — a warm sandy pink — and these designs were applied to Shermans, Grants, Valentines, Crusaders, Stuarts, and the Churchills of Kingforce. As Desert Pink was a new colour, Light Stone No.61 continued in use on vehicles with or without disruptive paintwork alongside it, and Desert Pink also appeared on its own as a single shade on vehicles of no tactical value and armoured command vehicles. The scheme covers all British Eighth Army subjects from El Alamein (October 1942) through to the fall of Tunisia (May 1943), including the M4 Sherman, M3 Grant, Valentine, Crusader III, M3 Stuart, Churchill, Universal Carrier, and all associated Commonwealth wheeled transport of the period. RC871 pairs with RC870 Dark Olive Green PFI as the two-colour standard scheme.
