Description

AKIRC870 - AK Interactive Real Colors British Dark Olive Green PFI 17 ml.

A very dark, muddy olive green corresponding to Dark Olive Green PFI — the standard disruptive camouflage colour introduced for British and Commonwealth AFVs in the Middle East from October 1942, applied over the new Desert Pink base coat that replaced the earlier stone-based schemes. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC870 is the essential dark tone for British El Alamein and Tunisia-period desert subjects.

General Order 1650 of October 1942 introduced a new standard scheme for British vehicles in the Middle East, with Desert Pink as the basic colour and Dark Olive Green PFI as the primary disruptive pattern colour. These designs were applied to Shermans, Grants, Valentines, Crusaders, Stuarts, and Churchills of Kingforce. Dark Olive Green PFI was used as the disruptive camouflage colour of British Army vehicles in North Africa and the Middle East from October 1942 until the spring of 1943. The colour also saw continued use in Sicily and Italy, sometimes applied as a disruptive colour over Khaki Green No.3 or SCC2 when units moved from Tunisia to Sicily, and over US Olive Drab on some Lend-Lease vehicles in Italy. It pairs with Desert Pink as the standard two-colour scheme for all British Eighth Army subjects from the Second Battle of El Alamein (October 1942) through to the fall of Tunisia (May 1943), including the M4 Sherman, M3 Grant, Valentine, Crusader III, M3 Stuart, and Churchill.
