Description

AKIRC868 - AK Interactive Real Colors Light Stone No.61 (BS381) 17 ml.

A warm sandy tan corresponding to BSC No.61 Light Stone — one of the two base coat colours of the British Caunter camouflage scheme and subsequently the single overall vehicle colour across the entire British Middle East theatre from late 1941 through 1942. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC868 has one of the broadest applications of any British desert colour and is essential for Western Desert and North African subjects from Operation Compass through to El Alamein.

Light Stone No.61 was one of the base coat colours used in the Caunter Scheme applied to British Army vehicles in North Africa and the Middle East from July 1940 until late 1941, with Silver Grey No.28 and Slate No.34 as the disruptive colours. When the Caunter pattern was cancelled in December 1941, it was replaced by a single overall colour of Light Stone No.61 or Portland Stone No.64. Throughout 1942, Light Stone No.61 continued as the standard desert vehicle base colour with a single disruptive colour applied over at the discretion of commands, and remained in use on vehicles with or without disruptive paintwork even after Desert Pink was introduced in October 1942. It covers a wide range of subjects including the Matilda II, Valentine, Crusader, M3 Stuart, M3 Grant, M4 Sherman, Universal Carrier, and all associated Commonwealth wheeled transport across the Western Desert campaign from 1940 through to the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942.
