Description

AKIRC866 - AK Interactive Real Colors Silver Grey No.28 (BS381) 17 ml.

A muted sage-grey corresponding to BSC No.28 Silver Grey — one of the three disruptive colours of the famous Caunter camouflage scheme applied to British and Commonwealth AFVs in the Middle East and North Africa from July 1940 until October 1941. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC866 is an essential colour for early Western Desert British armour modelling.

The Caunter Scheme was composed of BSC No.28 Silver Grey, BSC No.34 Slate, and either BSC No.61 Light Stone or BSC No.64 Portland Stone, and was applied to vehicles of the British Army in North Africa and the Middle East from July 1940 until late 1941. Silver Grey served as the mid-tone disruptive colour between the lighter stone base and the darker Slate in the angular geometric hard-edge pattern. Tanks which received the Caunter pattern included the Vickers Light Tanks Mk.III, IV, and VI, A.9, A.10, and A.13 Cruisers, Matilda II, Crusader, M3 Stuart, and Valentine, as well as armoured cars including the Rolls-Royce M1924, Morris CS9, Marmon-Herrington, India Pattern Carrier, and Guy Wheeled Tank. The Caunter pattern ceased to be applied to all vehicles in November 1941, formally cancelled in December 1941, though vehicles already in the scheme remained in use into 1942. The scheme covers all British 7th Armoured Division ("Desert Rats") subjects from Operation Compass (December 1940) through to Operation Crusader (November 1941).
