Description
AKIRC861 - AK Interactive Real Colors Gelbbraun-Yellow Brown RAL 8000 17 ml.
A warm, yellow-brown corresponding to RAL 8000 Gelbbraun — the primary base colour of the first official Afrikakorps camouflage scheme, used on all German vehicles in North Africa from March 1941 until March 1942. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC861 is an essential colour for any German desert theatre subject from the opening of the North Africa campaign through to the transition to the second tropical scheme.
In March 1941, the first camouflage colours specifically intended for use in Africa were selected: RAL 8000 Gelbbraun and RAL 7008 Graugrün, covering two thirds and one third of the vehicle's surface respectively. In March 1942 they were replaced by RAL 8020 Braun and RAL 7027 Grau. RAL 8000 is the correct base colour for all German AFV and wheeled vehicle subjects of the early North Africa campaign including the Panzer III Ausf. E/F/G/H/J, Panzer IV Ausf. D/E/F1, Sd.Kfz. 251, Sd.Kfz. 221/222/232, Kübelwagen, Opel Blitz, and all other Afrikakorps equipment from Rommel's arrival in February 1941 through to the spring of 1942. Additionally, 38 Tiger I tanks issued to the Grossdeutschland, SS-LAH, SS-Das Reich, and SS-Totenkopf divisions from December 1942 to February 1943 were painted in this first tropical scheme. Its use was also prominent on the Eastern Front during the 1942 German summer offensive (Fall Blau), where factory-painted tropical vehicles were diverted from North Africa due to equipment shortages.
