Description

AKIRC857 - AK Interactive Real Colors Grau-Grey RAL 7027 17 ml.

A warm, greenish sand grey corresponding to RAL 7027 Sandgrau — the disruptive camouflage colour of the second Afrikakorps colour scheme, used across German vehicles in North Africa and Crete from mid-1942 until the fall of Tunisia in May 1943. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Military range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC857 is an essential colour for any German Afrikakorps subject from mid-war onward.

On 25 March 1942, RAL 7027 Grau was ordered as the replacement disruptive pattern colour over the RAL 8020 Gelbbraun base coat, applied in irregular patches with RAL 8020 predominant at approximately two thirds to one third Sandgrau. This Afrika 2 scheme was used by the Afrikakorps from March 1942 through to May 1943 and was also applied to German vehicles stationed on Crete. It covers all German AFV and wheeled vehicle subjects of the late North Africa campaign including the Panzer III Ausf. J/L/M/N, Panzer IV Ausf. F2/G/H, Tiger I initial production (Tunisia), Sd.Kfz. 251, Sd.Kfz. 232, Kübelwagen, Opel Blitz, and Marder III in the mid-to-late DAK period. RAL 7027 had a noticeably greenish tone despite its generic name, and the combination with RAL 8020 displayed much higher contrast than the earlier RAL 8000/7008 scheme — though it remained common for many vehicles to be left in just the RAL 8020 base.
