RAL 5005 is a high-visibility industrial and civilian blue used across a broad range of scale modelling diorama and civilian vehicle subjects. It is the correct colour for German police (Polizei) vehicle liveries of the 1970s–1990s on vehicles including the VW Passat, Mercedes-Benz 230E, and BMW 5 Series patrol cars, which used a distinctive green-and-silver scheme with blue details in some federal states. It also appears on industrial machinery, chemical plant piping, water treatment equipment, and naval harbour infrastructure.
