A muted, desaturated blue-grey — one of the most widely used pale blues in scale modelling, appearing across WWII Japanese, Italian, and Allied subjects wherever a subtle, understated blue tone is required. Part of the AK Interactive Real Colors Standard range in the new 17ml plastic dropper bottle, RC816 carries over directly from the original RC017 Pale Blue in the previous 10ml glass bottle range.

RC816 Pale Blue is closely associated with several specific aircraft subjects. Japanese WWII aircraft used pale blue grey on undersurfaces — it is used on the lower surfaces of Mitsubishi A6M Zero, Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa (Oscar), Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki (Tojo), and Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien (Tony). It also matches the Aotake translucent blue-green primer applied to wheel wells and internal structural surfaces on most IJNAF aircraft including the Zero, Nakajima B6N Tenzan, and Yokosuka D4Y Suisei. Beyond Japanese subjects, its muted tone makes it useful for Italian Regia Aeronautica undersurface grey-blue on the SM.79 Sparviero and Macchi C.202 Folgore, and as a general-purpose pale blue for cockpit details, markings, and diorama elements across multiple nationalities.
