A bright, pure traffic red referenced to RAL 3020 — noticeably more vivid and saturated than the deeper RAL 3000 Flame Red, and one of the most recognisable colours in the RAL system. RAL 3020 has well-documented uses across both military and civilian modelling subjects. It is the correct colour for Wehrmacht tactical markings (Gelb Nr. 3 / Nr. 12) applied to the Panzer III, Panzer IV, StuG III, Sd.Kfz. 251, and Kübelwagen as divisional and unit identification markings. In civilian modelling, RAL 3020 has been the corporate identity colour of Deutsche Bahn since 1996, appearing on locomotives including the DB Class 101, ICE high-speed trains, and IC/ICE carriage decorative strips. It is also the standard colour for German Feuerwehr (fire engine) bodywork.
