Description
ACA13281 - Academy - 1/35 Magach 6B Gal Batash
The Magach 6 was an Israeli post-war and modern tank. The first vehicles of this type entered service in the mid-1970s. The armament consisted of a single 105 mm cannon, two 7.62 and 12.7 mm Browning machine guns, and a 60 mm light mortar.
In the 1960s, the Israeli army began to introduce new M48 tanks, imported mainly from the USA, into its armored forces, and from 1970 – the M60 Patton. For those times, these were modern vehicles, but the experience gained by the Israeli army during the Yom-Kippur War (1973) showed that these vehicles had flaws. To remedy these flaws, it was decided to introduce numerous modifications to them, which led to the creation of, among others, the Magach 6 tanks. The Magach 6 tanks are based on the M60, M60A1 and M60A3 vehicles. All of them have the so-called Urdan commander's turret and "Blazer" reactive armor. In addition to the basic version, subsequent versions appeared, including: Magach 6 B (with the AVDS-1790-2C RISE engine), Magach 6 B Gal (version with the Gal fire control system) or Magach 6 B Gal Batach (version with the Gal FCS, new armor and a different turret shape). Vehicles of this type took part primarily in the operation in Lebanon in 1982.
