ACA13279 - Academy - 1/35 M36B1 Gun Motor Carriage
The M36 Jackson or Slugger was an American tank destroyer from World War II. The M36 was introduced into combat in the second half of 1944. Despite this late date, it managed to become famous for destroying a large number of enemy vehicles, especially during the German offensive in the Ardennes. Most of the design was based on the proven M10, but a typical turret was introduced, working with the best M3 90mm anti-tank gun in the American arsenal at the time. Together with the newly introduced HVAP projectiles, it was able to penetrate any German armor without exception. In fact, the M36 Jackson was the only American armored vehicle capable of dealing with German Tigers and Panthers on its own. The effect of its effectiveness was high demand and production, which reached 1,400 units in less than a year. After World War II, the M36 continued to be used in combat in Korea, the war between India and Pakistan, and even the Balkan conflicts. In addition to the basic version, two others were produced: the M36B1 (turret mounted on the Sherman M4A3 body) and the M36B2 (M10 with the M36 turret and a diesel engine). Technical data: length (with barrel): 7.46 m, width: 3.05 m, height: 3.28 m, weight 29 t, engine power: 450 HP, speed: 42 km/h, armament: 1 M3 cannon caliber 90 mm, 1 Browning HB M2 machine gun caliber 12.7 mm.
